After nine days I let the horse run free. 'Cause the desert had turned to sea. There were plants and birds and rocks and things. There was sand and hills and rings. 1. I stood at the altar, and worshiped a stranger, baptized in the water, and absolved of my pain. I thought you were holy, I thought you could save me, I gave you my future, and you don't know my name. Guess this is the thanks that I get. You cast me out and you throw me away. Everything must come to an end, you've already died twice, you can still be replaced.

2. This is a cry for help, callin' for assistance, but you can't tell I need it when you're watchin' from a distance. Does a story die with its narrator? Surely it's forgotten soon or later. Hope they spell my name right in the paper, in here lies the great impersonator.

3. Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me. Well, I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me. I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you. (Oh, give me just a chance.) You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loved you.
